Purebaseball does have balance
Purebaseball has tons of balance. My article was only addressing the statistical accuracy of the league. Just because a starter will have an ERA 10-15% higher doesn't make him invaluable. The only way to judge a player is replacement value.
Martinez may have a 1.7 ERA instead of a 1.5, so what, he is still the best player because there is such a huge difference between him and the next player.
If your teams ERA should be 3.5, and your top competitor is 4.0, just expect the ERA's to be at
4.00 and 4.6 instead. You will still be at an advantage over your opponent.
Since all pitchers are effected equally, all will still be just as valuable as before. What is required is that when you look at the final stats of all players, you must expect pitching to be slightly higher.
By the way, this type of discussion is very good for this league. Keeps everyone interested, and gives ideas for the future.
