In my last road series my ACE starting pitcher was shelled- allowing 17 baserunners and 10 earned runs in 4 innings. Even though it was clear he couldn't get anybody out (at the end allowing something like 6 consecutive to reach- though it's hard to tell with these boxscores- which is a whole other "funny" story...) he was left in until he reached 30 BF. The computer then put in my LOOGY. Now with some teams this could be a potential disaster- wasting valuable innings-but with this team it was the exact right thing to do. This LOOGY has more innings/usage than he will ever see. So how many of you can guess the punch line now? Yep! The LOOGY with an ROPS of .927 shut down the opposition and we came back to win 12-11. The only thing that kept it from being a "perfect" PB game was that my closer actually got the save! Of course he did give up 3 runs and the BS- L on his previous outing...
So, depending on your sense of humor, this game is always good for a laugh!
