A Pitching Experiment
Seems like most of the posts lately have been on the subject of pitching in PB lagging the performance of its real-life counterpart. Seems to me I've had similar experience - when I drafted teams slanted toward pitching I got killed, and when I went for boppers and didn't even think about pitching until Round 8 I did well. But I never really set out to draft a "pitching" team to see what happened.
So, in LL4, I did just that. I've drafted 17 pitchers...13 of them grade 8 or higher, 3 more grade between 7 and 8, and only 1 is as low as 6-7. In addition, I've put them in a spacious park and drafted position players with at least some eye on defense - only disregarded defensive ratings at the corner OF positions.
This team should theoretically lead the league by a wide margin in fewest runs allowed, but if I have a gripe about PB it's that teams like these have a tendency to fall to the middle of the pack in runs allowed.
If anyone else wants to follow the experiment, it's Texas Timber V of LL4.
