I say play him
Nixon had 4 putouts so no problem as far as I have seen. If he had played CF but had NO putouts, then he would actually be worse than if he had never played there at all.
He had 4 putouts though, so no problem.
I've been playing Troy Glaus at SS with even fewer innings and only 1 (or maybe 2 now) putout(s). He's actually outperformed Alex Gonzalex (Toronto) on my team and I think by now has played more innings for me at SS than Gonzalez. I'm platooning them with Gonzalez against lefties so Glaus gets most of the PT.
Don't try it even if a guy has great ratings if he doesn't have at least 1 putout.
I actually think the game should only allow you to use up to the innings the guy actually played there if he played less than 5 games or 20 innings at a position - sort of like what the game does with the "PLATOON" rating for hitters. That isn't how it works now though so take advantage of it. I figure abusing a loophole is the best way to get it corrected. That's probably what happened with the non-catchers used at catcher throwing out base runners like crazy. It got bad enough that it was finally fixed (I think).
