Defensive flexibility
Limiting players to their actual innings at a defensive position would never work, not with the existing penalties for using a player out of position.
I think it's ridiculous what happens to players when they're played out of position for the critical positions.  I can see controlling who plays catcher, but the penalties for shortstop and centerfield are harsh.  You get severely penalized when you're forced to play someone not rated at those positions.
I mean c'mon.  A right fielder playing center isn't a stretch.  I expect a decline but the game turns him into a major handicap.  He will single handidly lose ballgames for you.
There's a percentage drop for other position switches and there should be for shortstop and centerfield as well.  Make it a 50% drop or 60% drop, whatever.  Just don't turn the guy into a total vegetable.
