I knew this was going to happen. I've seen him make some brilliant plays, Baseball America considered him one of the best defensive first baseman in baseball, and now the league awards him the Gold Glove.

But Purebaseball gives him an ODR of 4 and a ridiculous range rating of 1. It's his range that makes him a spectacular defensive player, especially to his right. Whatever statistics are used by Stats Inc. to determine first base defensive ratings....they're WRONG! I realize we're playing a game based on stats, but sometimes stats can be deceptive. Doug Mientkiewicz is terrific defensively, and somehow the game should find a way to recognize this.
