The mystery continues: Zone Rating appears to have little to do with the 1Bs Range Factors. Giambi has a very high Zone Rating, which really begs the question of how its dirived. The range factor seems to correlate closely with Assists+Errors, or Assists+Errors/Innings. I like looking at these stats because I can relate to them -- Stats Inc does say anywhere how they calc Zone Rating, and PB does seem to use it for 1Bs. Where I started is that I'm OK with PBs low range for Mientk. and I have to question how a guy gets a gold glove and a great rep when he only gets to a gb every other game or so.
