Yes and No

I too would like to see less of this but also plead guilty to some.

The complaint should go to the COMMISH. The game should penalize you for overusing players, playing them out of position, etc.

Just to see what would happen I started Doug Nickle (who has unreal stats but only pitched 2 innings) in 98RT1 when he was already VERY OVERUSED. He is NOT a starter and only pitched 2 innings the entire season. I'd already used him up before I started him.

He went 17 innings, pitched a shutout, and struck out 25 batters.

I probably shouldn't have used him like that, but the game should not have allowed it. He should have gotten injured walking out to the mound to start the game - or soon after, or he should have been creamed. No way he goes 17 innings. This is a game problem.

I think problems like this need to be corrected.

I think players who only played a few innings at a position should be limited to 200% of the actual innings at that position and from then on be severely penalized or injured long term if they are used there.

(Of course it also doesn't make sense that an outfielder who never played left field will perform ok but an outfielder who actually played left field but made no putouts will perform attrociously).

A hitter who had less than 10 at bats doesn't get his actual hitting stats. A fielder who only played a few innings or a pitcher who only pitched a few innings shouldn't get their actual stats either.

The problem is NOT with managers playing within the rules.

The problem is the game needs to be fixed to punish abuse. Until then, I'm playing Glaus at SS. I've sent the Commish Glaus' fielding stats vs my other SS (Alex Gonzalez of Toronto - pretty good D) and complained that Glaus should not perform, but...he still does.

I say FIX THE GAME.
