As long as I have played PB ther have been problems with the text of the play by play results. I once asked Mike about this and he said something to the effect that the text results are only a guide to what really happened and not necessarily exactly how the play happened. I think that the results that I asked about was how could a fast runner be thrown out at home by an OFer with an average arm when the ball was hit deep in to the gap when a slow runner could score from third on a ball hit to shallow OF on an OFer with a great arm. Basically the last play is a flyout to the OF with the runner scoring from third. The written play by play is only for information and is not to be taken literally.
