Robot Defensive Moves
I was playing a home game the other day in one of my launch leagues and a peculiar thing happened.
After Lee Stevens pinch hit for SS Walt Weiss and Mike Simms pinch hit for LF Darin Erstad in the 8th or 9th inning the robot inserted Lee Stevens at SS, Mike Simms at LF, and left utility man Jose Hernandez in CF. My dilema was I didn't understand why the robot didn't insert Chad Curtis who was on the bench in CF and move Jose Hernandez from CF to SS instead of putting Lee Stevens at SS.
After thinking about it I decided that since it was a tie game the robot didn't want to use all its position players in case of injury or another pinch hitting situation. Then when the other team took the lead in the 10th inning the robot brought Chad Curtis in to play LF as a defensive replacement while leaving Hernandez in CF and Lee Stevens at SS. This perplexed me and I was wishing there was a "Hit it to the shortstop button somewhere"
But the point is this... has anyone else seen bizzarre things like this and/or do you know if they aim to make the A/I for defensive switches better?
I would understand if there were no players available rated at the position but this was a clear case where a player was available for the position and
was not used.
(Sorry for the long post I will have to work on my brevity in the future)
