Ichiro gets such a high rating in roto because of the rarity of stolen bases. In real life (and sim) his stolen bases aren't such a big factor. As far as I'm concerned, a stolen base is risking an unnecessary out. Since the number of stolen bases continue to decrease every year, the majors are also realizing that SB's are not as big of a threat as they used to be. Obviously speed is a benefit because of quality base running, but the stolen base is way overrated.
Ichiro is a good base runner and a quality fielder, but I thinks it's ridiculous that he won the MVP. Quality hitting is much more important in creating runs than speed. I'll take a slugger over a speedster anyday. In PB and real life.
