Looking at catchers

Posted By KenG

Looking at arms rated from 1 to 9, this is what I noticed.

Ivan, a 9, allowed a SB pct between .60 - .65, while Hundley, a 1, had .75 - .80. 5 rated catchers were around .67 - .71.

What was interesting though was the fact that people stole on Hundley about twice as much. He'd have 60 attempts against him, while Ivan would have only 30 attempts for the same number of innings caught.

What this means is that only the best stealers go against Ivan, while everyone tries to steal vs. Hundley. This will have a tendancy to raise Ivan SB pct, while lowering Hundley's.

None of this accounts for the pitchers, and I believe they contribute just as equally to the SB equation.
