Interesting teams to watch?
I'd like to hear about interesting teams this coming season - and by interesting I don't mean the typical nicely balanced playoff contending team, but a team with a unique story, roster or strategy that could be fun to check up on once in awhile.
I'll start with my team, the Baradur Nazgul, in Traditional 1 98 (Senior Circuit West). What should make this team fun is watching Barry Bonds playing at Coors Field, with Moises Alou, Jeff Bagwell, Brian Giles, and Phil Nevin surrounding him in the lineup. I'll enjoy seeing what happens when one of the greatest offensive seasons ever is played at the most offense heavy park in baseball history, with four more of the top 25 offensive players (based on OPS) in the lineup with Bonds. I projected the numbers based on park-effect adjustments, and the lineup at home could average 24 baserunners (and 3 HRs) a game!
What should make it more enjoyable is the total lack of quality pitching I have - all starters are INN (J Sanchez, D Burba, S Hitchock, B Chen, etc) and the bullpen is mediocre. It should be slugfests galore, but will it translate to wins? I think it will, others may not.
Anyway, can Barry hit 100? Will the team average over 10 runs a game at home? Its might be worth checking out as the season wears on, and lets hear about other fun teams.
