Conclusion of Vent
Mike and Dwight, I have sympathy for the need to support one's family. It is, with certainty, a higher priority than providing baseball junkies with a way to waste time and pretend to be working. As a programmer, I have an understanding of the level of effort that goes into an endeavor such as this. I've offered, both privately and publicly, to take over teams. The response of "...allowing managers to run unmanaged teams is a good idea, it will take more programming resources than we can spare at the present time" is, at best, bullshit. If I offer to take over a team with a PB value of below 75, give it to me at no charge. Announce that this is available, and assign teams on a first come - first served basis. Maybe this has already happened, and I just wasn't part of those considered for this. That's fine. I don't want to see Pure Baseball go under; but on it's present course, it appears headed for a cliff. Be honest with us and communicate with us. I don't need to see new enhancements to the
program; I do need to see schedules met and emails answered. In a New Year's Day, 2002 posting to the owners at large, Mike stated "Join LLs and encourage newbies to do so." Did that. Lost two potential customers for you. You also stated "If you have to be critical, please direct your wrateh(sp) directly to me via email. Anyone wishing to back our effort would be hard pressed to do so after reading mosts posts to this bulletin board. I know that we have deserved criticism in the past but at this point it is moot... If you enjoy this game please pitch in with some positive insights." I've tried that for two years as well. To this point, none of the ideas that I've presented have been implemented. What's more, I can't seem to get communications from you or Dwight with any consistancy. I've reached the end of my rope. I enjoy the hell out of this game, and yet am frustrated to no end by poor management. If you want me and my bretheren to stick around and support you, give us something to do to help.
Quick making periodic excuses. Quit bullshitting us or stone walling us. Just do what you say that you will do, and we will all be much happier.
