Hmmm.... I didn't realize that they were still charging to babysit the teams. I don't necessarily agree with that.

I will help out by taking over a team or two for the year, but just to help keep things going. This will help speed up play in many leagues and help take some of the load off of the commish and tech - so why not make it free?

The only thing that the commish and tech would have to make sure of is:

1. If a paying owner wants in - he/she gets in immediately with the babysitting owner having no chance to suddenly "take over" the team.

2. At the end of the year, the team you are babysitting is removed from your control. You should never be able to babysit the same team two consecutive years in a row. This way, you do not develop an attachment to a team that you are not paying for - after all - it is free because you are helping out. If you want to keep managing the team for a few years, then you should pay up and take ownership of the team.

This balances the good with the bad I think. I'm sure Mike wouldn't want someone "babysitting" the same team for 5 years without paying.
