go to control panel -system icon - advanced tab-
error reporting button- choose disable error reporting.
Also if you continue to have problems with Win XP and other programs ? you may need to format your harddrive and reinstall WIN XP.
The reason being many older programs and even
some Windows Updates that you download cause problems within Win XP.
That is why i even turn off automatic updates-
control panel- system icon -automatic updates tab- choose turn off automatic updating-.
When i want to update windows i do this manually.
If you end up reinstalling Win Xp ? All of these
settings will automatically be turned back on.
A few other things i do to help is turn off
system restore - control panel - system icon -
system restore tab - choose turn off.
click -ctrl-alt delete key once to see what
applictations are running at system start up.
click end task for those not needed {anti virus programs- ect.}
And one final thing it do is click start- run -
type msconfig- ok - startup tab - and i uncheck
everything that i do want to statup when Win Xp
starts.
Every system is different but i only have
updreg checked along with a rundll32 item.
msmgs will always start unless you do a reg edit.
If i need to startup a program i just go to
start- programs or to a desk top icon.
Then i just reboot my computer before every game.
Also run your utilities -
start- all programs - accessories -system tools -
disk cleanup { i have all file boxes checked } and then choose disk defragmenter utility.
To scan your hard drive for errors select- start-
my computer- local hard drive c:- left click mouse button- properties - tools - error checking - check now button - select automatically fix file system errors -start -
then it will tell you to close programs and reboot. You can also select - scan and attempt to
recover bad sectors. But depending on the size of your hard drive this takes quite a long time to complete.
But as i mentioned earlier if you have another
program or Win XP update that is causing problems ?
The only thing to do is a format and Win XP reinstall.
Also make sure you have the latest Win XP drivers
and updates for your video -audio - and any other programs.
And frequently delete your Internet Explorer
cookies- history and Temporary internet files.
Start Internet explorer - choose tools - internet
options - general tab- and choose delete cookies-
delete files - and below that clear history and minimize the number of days to keep pages i history {1 ?}.
I hope this helps . Just keep a record of what you changed if you need to change the setings
back.
