Crashes and XP
I really have no business getting into this discussion because I'm about as non-technical as you can get. However, I was reading earlier on the board about problems with the game and Windows XP and was in the process of getting a new computer so I dreaded the problems I thought I would have. My computer is a generic built by a local dealer with XP loaded and default settings in place. It is a 2 Gig. with 524 Mg. and I don't have much saved to the memory.
When I purchased it, I went through setup at the dealers and most of the settings are default.
I haven't had one problem with the game freezing or shutting down. I do have a peculiar thing that happens ocasionally when the view of the field in the game goes whiete until I click on something on the screen, making me think it is about to freeze, but it never continues into a crash or a lockup.
I had studied the detailed instructions some people had posted about what to do to make the game work well with XP, but have never had to use any of them.
Just a "for what it's worth." I suspect innocent freezes and lockups have more to do with ISP problems and/or locked up memory on players' computers than with the software.
