Why?...because
this isn't Coke and Pepsi battling for market share. This is supposed to be a sport with 30 teams, not 5 or 6 teams competing and rest just there to fill the schedule. Do you really think it's better for the sport as a whole to have only a few teams with any chance to win each year? But then I guess those who think like this don't care about the "sport" they are only interested in buying titles. MLB must be seen as one entity competing against other forms of entertainment for market share, not 30 separate companies competing for survival.
