rt 994 Contraction
I think from the way this thread is going the one thing that is clear is that something needs to be done. Since each league presents different situations (different # of dead teams, different PB on each team, etc.. ) one solution may not work for all. I the case of 99 RT 4, there are now 6 dead teams, 5 of which reside in last place. There is some imbalance in the 'haves' from the 'have-nots', but the records show less disparity than the other leagues I'm in. So I think Tim A's proposal a bit over the top in this particular case and requires modification.
I would propose that the 2 teams that are not dissolved (one has Pedro, Nomar, and the young CF from Houston Wow!!)get 1 pick for the talent pool of dissolved teams. They then lead off with the 1st and 2nd picks of rd 2, followed by the 10 non-playoff teams. The 3rd rd would have all the teams involved.
A look at the talent available and the addition of 2 A + players will have a on even a bad roster, is not to be taken lightly.
I further propose that it, the draft, not be serpentine. The 2 non-playoff teams will have chosen the top 4 players before anyone else has a chance, and 3 players before the playoff teams get a bite at the apple. The first player taken by a playoff team will be the 27th taken in the draft. I think this will make the 2 franchises not to be dissolved attractive to someone, and the elimation of dead teams will remove the stagnation that seems to have gripped this league in particular.
