Contraction vs Balance
Actually, both of my teams are in last place at the moment - one due to a tough division, the other due to massive rebuilding and youth. I could really help myself in both leagues if I got two of the best 16 players off of the four contracted teams - I might even become the favorite in the tough division.
My point is that the reason for contraction is due to too many unmanaged teams, not to suddenly give an abundance of talent to teams that have done poorly.
I have no problem with ranking the teams by ability/wins like the rookie draft. I just didn't think that Tim's idea of so heavily weighting to the poor teams was fair all around. Say I have the tenth worst team but was second best in my division, and suddenly two teams in my division get to pick up two of the top 16 players from contracting teams. I might fall to last place before I even get going, which seems too harsh.
A simple draft order should still distribute the talent leaning towards the teams that need the most help, but not unfairly so.
