I've owned a team for four years. I lived in the basement for my first two years, and then won back to back division titles. This year, I'm in the middle of the pack. So from my perspective, things seem to work fine the way they are. I mean this in the general context of being able to build / maintain a team over time, not what to do with contracted players.

If contraction is a foregone conclusion (and I hope it isn't), what about just tossing all of the players into the FA pool? You'd have to agree with my first paragraph before even thinking of agreeing with this, though. Even if you do, I'm sure there are reasons not to handle it this way.

Anyway, just wanted to cast a vote on the competitve balance issue.
