non-competitive play
I totally agree that deliberately losing games to improve draft position is anti-competitive, and should not be tolerated. The problem is definitely widespread...one of last season's C16 division winners was not in the race this year, so he left 2-3 outstanding starters on the farm all season (imagine Washburn with only 16 starts, etc.).
The process of teams tanking for better rookie picks is probably the best argument for keeping the Free agent draft random...as it would only reward such reprehensible play.
My teams always strive to win the most games possible each year. I have always taken pride in my teams composite won/loss records over the years. To be a consistent winning team...one has to try to win games consistently!!!
I find teams that win a division one year, then are in last place the next pretty sad..."there oughta be a law" against such unethical play. For sure, real MLB baseball would never tolerate it. Though there is no set penalty...there should be!
Let's all try to play to win here...
