In case anyone cares
First let me state that
(1) I admit I should not have left those guys on the farm.
(2) I've never done it before and I won't do it again
(3) The actual impact it has had has been minimal.
But I want to point out that those players have been on the farm for three weeks (not all season).
And Griffey isn't even one of my best OFers. Jones starts CF for me (until the last 3 weeks). Griffey has underperformed for me all year so when I was trying hard he still wasn't playing.
Thats not an excuse for him being on the farm. Its merely a rebuttal for the people that talk of minimum usage. When you have 4 star outfielders you can't use them all. Also what will be the criteria for deciding what player are subject to the limit? Some examples.
Konerko has been on the bench legitimately in 99 Trad 2 because I felt Chris Richard was outperforming him.
Sierra has good numbers in 2001 but because of his low OBP and other talent on my team I never used him as more than a platoon player in either K15 or 99Trad 2.
D'Angelo Jimenez was on my bench all year in 99 Trad 2 until I traded him.
Jason Kendall has been on my bench most of the year in 99 Trad 3 because Pudge Rodriguez is better.
I could go on.
If there is one positive in this very negative incident its that this issue is finally getting the press it should have had two years ago when other people were doing it.
