Whatever...
Sorry... I can't get all worked up over a guy who shows little sportsmanship to either his teammates or his fellow competitors. I have no time for poor sports no matter what the game is. I don't care if he's the greatest athlete on the planet - he's another human being plain and simple, and if he can't give others their due concern then he doesn't earn any of mine.
And as for baseball - there aren't any players that I would currently call "ambassadors" of the game. Gretzky and Lemieux were/are ambassadors, I can't think of a baseball player with that kind of power right now.
What you call "trite" I call sportsmanship. Why come off as a sore loser when you can come off as a champion. Hasn't anyone asked you a dumb question? Did you rip their heads off for it or answer them?
You are right... how we both differ in viewing this incident is very telling about people's personalities.
