UNMANAGED TEAMS
As Commissioner of Realtime 3'98 I am keeping
track of unmanaged teams. I HAVE NO CONTROL OVER
THEM! I just send messages to Bravard and he
fixes the problem. We're talking roster moves
and if I see anything strange....like my series
with the Elk Grove Lightning...I'll report that.
The last draft is coming up and I suggested
possible cuts so even the unmanaged teams
could pick something up. On the "Wyatt Earp"
side of it I've been looking over the league
statistics eyeballing any "unusual" or out
of the ordinary things. You know, something
like 50 intentional walks issued by a team!
That's no doubt about it cheating. There
are many ways teams could setup their "manager"
to help lose games. Set certain things for
either ultra conservative or aggressive and
you could see some pretty bad losses. Especially
if you set it to the opposite of your teams
strength! 10 Stolen bases and 50 caught is
either just really stupid or cheating. It's
interesting to look through all the league
stats and see that certain teams sacrifice....
ALOT....those teams happen to be in the lower
half of their division. Anyway, I'm lookin'!
As for what we should do with the future of
PB itself? Personally, I would be willing to
give up my teams (Two in 1st, one wildcard and
one...well...it stinks!) to start from scratch.
Dump leagues that have too many unmanaged teams
and put them in ones that need managers. Then
start with a clean slate using a formation draft.
Radical, I know, but I'm more interested in the
future of PB than my own teams. I mean, if PB
doesn't survive...neither do your teams! I
would like to see a format like what they tried
to start with the "Champions" league and the
minor league "Challengers". You have to move
up in order to play against the tougher GM's.
This creates level play in every league. I know
there are problems inherent with this idea....
When they move up do they take their team with
them or do they then lose it? However, I'm sure
there would be a way to work it out. There
are SO many questions that need to be discussed
and answered but it sounds like the BIG commish
is willing to listen to our ideas and go with
them if it's what we want.
