First -- I am a big Bonds fan. I think it is astounding how he has repeatedly almost single handidly carried small budget teams to the playoffs and is one of the very, very rare baseball players who manages to make almost the entire lineup better.

I don't understand how similarly surly guys like Mark McGuire (who handled the home run race media very badly until Sammy forced him to act with more decency -- handled it much worse IMO than Bonds did last year) could get away scott free from the criticism that Bonds gets.
