Soooo misleading
While it may be a given, that according to the stats, there would be more flyballs hit to Finley than Hunter should Finley be on the Twins, he would have to catch in a place other than CF.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Hunters 'Zone' CF? Aren't the balls hit there the ONLY ones he can catch? Are you trying to suggest that Finley would be catching balls in RF and LF as well as the onbes hit in his 'zone'? Wouldn't Finley chances with the Twins be the EXACVT SAME as Hunters? Would his ODR then go down to a 1? For all the neat calculations. I still don't understand how an outfielder gets penalized because balls AREN'T hit to him.
Maybe the flaw lies in the fact that with Schilling and Johnson noone is pulling the ball. So, although there may be fewer balls actually put in play, the ones that are go to CF and not down the lines.
I don't know, but after reading the two above explanations, I'm not sure you do either.
