My thoughts on how ratings should be determined
is this: Pitching and offensive stats are alot
easier to determine than the defensive ones so
I don't see a really good way to do it. Somebody
will find fault no matter how you go about it.
Realize this though---even REAL statistics are
argued about, especially the defensive ones, so
how can we say there is a right way to make
defensive ratings from stats if we're not that
sure about the stats themselves! We could just
go back to the days of picking ratings on our
opinions of players abilities just on what we
see on TV or at the ballpark.
