New PB value (first draft)
Comments welcome!
1. Create new PB values:
a. PB value/plate appearances for hitters
b. PB value/innings pitched for pitchers
These should be displayed on the TEAM stat sheet
2. New PB value for teams. First find 650 Plate appearances for every position:
3. Position players:
Start with SS, C, CF, 2b, 3b, 1b, rf, lf, and DH in DH leagues.
Use players (use 110% of actual MLB PAs) with more than 10 games at the
position.
Go through list until all 8 (9 in DH leagues) has at least 650 PA. Use PB
value of player(s) chosen X PB/PA.
Then normalize to 650 PA if more than one player (best player gets all his PA and fill in with whatever percentage of remaining player(s) is needed to reach 650 PA)
Players used at positions where actual position not available:
Moving through above sequence (S, C, CF, 2b, 3b, 1b, rf, lf, and DH in DH leagues) when a position can not be filled with player who has played that position at least 10 games the following can be used in order:
C-only
SS-only
CF-only
2b, SS
3b, SS
1b, SS
rf, cf, lf
lf, cf, rf
Additional rules:
--INN players can account for 650 PA and any position
--No player will account for more than 650 PA (filing in at more than one position)
--Pick one player per position (10 games at position or replacement position) and move on to next position in sequence until all positions are filled with 650 PA or most available at that position.
4. Pitchers:
Start with SP.
Pick first 5 starters (30 BFA and at least 100 innings pitched, use 115% of actual
MLB innings) according to highest PA/Innings.
If not 1000 innings pick additional
starters (at least 50 innings pitched) until at least 1000 innings.
Then normalize to 1000 innings (Use total innings (115% of actual) of top five
starters These five get all of their innings and fill in with whatever percentage of
remaining starter(s) is needed to reach 1000 innings.
Fill 1000 starter innings before moving to relievers.
The relievers.
Pick top RH and top LH relievers according to PB value/inning (considering only relievers with at least 30 actual innings pitched).
Then choose 3 more relievers (either
RH or LH) according to highest PB value/inning who had at least 30 actual innings
pitched.
Tabulate the total innings (115% of actual) of five relievers. Add extra relievers
needed to reach 450 innings (115%). Normalize by counting all innings of pitchers
up to 450 innings and filing in with all or part of remaining relievers needed to reach
450 Innings.
Total PB value adds PB value found at each position (650 PA) + all starters for
1000 innings + all relievers needed to reach 450 innings.
