Confusion

Posted By Jon

I'm very confused with this new PB value system.

First, let me ask this:

Is this PB value system a permanent change or is it just a calculation for the contract draft order?

If it's the latter, then I suggest this method of computing PB value to determine our order in the contraction draft:

Because alot of teams have already made post season cuts (myself included, I do this every year after my team is eliminated and get down to ~27 players including RK picks that I know I'll keep) then teams without cuts will have an inflated team PB value relative to the teams that have already made some cuts. Too keep things fair, I think our draft order PB value for this contraction draft should be based on our best 25 players. Call it an "active roster PB Value" if you will. Take the best 25 players (based on their PB value, which may or may not reflect their actual worth) and add up their total PB value. Use this new number to compute our order in the contraction draft.

This will eliminate any worry about teams making cuts to reduce their value (they'd be stupid to cut a valuable player with high PB value to maybe go up only 1 spot in the draft). It will also give a more relative team value based on a starting roster and not including all of the backups and 10 starting pitchers on the bench.
