Penalized or Rewarded
Fellow Managers
I would like to address Jon because he seems to make 2 different points on the same issue. In 1 post titled (my 2 cents) Jon, you make the case that "if you look at the 4 potential teams that might get contracted, many do not have more than 5 players that would get drafted and kept in the 27 player cut. Even if you double that amount to 10 servicable players per team (highly unlikely on most of these teams), that's only 2 good rounds of drafting..." Then you make almost the opposite case in this post saying that there are close to 50 good players in this pool. The goal of contraction is to INCREASE competition among the reamining 20 teams. With NO serpentine draft, the 5 best teams in the league will STILL GET 2 quality players that probably will make their 27 man cut. The 5 worst teams WILL GET 1 TOP Player and 1 quality player. Is that really PENALIZING the good teams...I don't think so and AGREE with your second post saying there are enough quality players for everyone so let the weakest teams pick first. I don't look at contraction as either being penalized or rewarded but rather an equitable distribution of talent among the remaining teams. After Round 2 it probably doesn't much matter and most of those players will wind up in the FA pool (I assume).
