Main weakness in game, non rated Catchers
I believe our simulation does a very good job in all respects except for one, and that is in punishing players that play catcher when not rated their. Here is why. I had Edgar Martinez, played him in the OF, he was on pace for 70 errors. If I say 35 were important, and subtract from that players singles, that makes a .300 hitter a .250 hitter. The same thing happens at other positions. Non rated 2B and SS make additional errors allowing extra men on base. This system does a good job punishing these players by allowing extra base runners.
A catcher is punished by allowing more PB’s and more SB’s. The problem is men have to be on base for this punishment to occur. If you a have a good pitcher, not many men will be on base. Secondly allowing a man to go from 1B to 2B isn’t a huge deal. My suggestion would be that a non rated catcher should also allow a third strike PB, maybe 1 in 10, to get to first base. This would be like an extra hit allowed or walk allowed per game. Just my ideas.
