I think you guys are forgetting that we are talking about professional athletes.

I have no doubt in my mind that the large majority of ML baseball players could effectively play ANY position on the field, if the manager needed them to do it (even catch).

To suggest that someone w/o a SS rating wouldn't be able to turn a double play is just stupid. It's a ground ball, not rocket science. If a fielder can't catch a fly ball or scoop up a hot grounder on a routine basis, they have no place in professional baseball.

The PB sim handles fielding assignments just fine IMO (sometimes penalizing player's too much) and nothing needs to be changed. Glaus played a little SS and has a low rating there. If someone wants to play him there for a full season, so be it. If it happened in real life (for one reason or another) do you actually think he would commit 3 errors every game or something ridiculous like you want to happen in a PB simulated game?

There are plenty of infielders that would make damn fine catchers and could probably throw out plenty of base stealers...but they've never been rated there.

I think this sim's fielding settings should be left alone. This isn't a replay league, it's a simulation league. You should be able to have some flexibility with your roster and lineup and not be forced to use players EXACTLY how they were used in real life.
