That's Mr Stupid toYou

Just kidding. I, for one, don't confuse the individual with the action. I realize you're calling my idea stupid isn't the same as calling me stupid. I disagree strongly with you however. i do not believe that any of these pro baseball plaers can play any position. Just like I don't believe many centers in football would make good wide-outs, or many point gaurds would make good centers in the NBA. I realize there are the Magic Johnson's out there, but PB can't distinguish. if it were so easy to make the transition to catcher, why does the other transfomation take place instead; the move of a catcher to 3rd (Joe Torre), or 2nd (Biaggo) or Lf(Yogi). Name one player established in the pros at another position who was changed to a catcher.

Likewise we have countless exaples of SS moving to other positions. Mickey Mantle, Robin Yount, Ernie Banks to name a Hall of Fame few. Can you name me one player who's come up as something else and changed to SS?

But that's all about reality baseball. Operating within the confines of PB, it seems that it's the Dh's and the Frank Thomas's of the world that we would be tempted to put behind the plate. Hell, they're going to be bad defensively anyway, why not catch a break there. I myself have used Edgar martinez and Darryl Ward bewhind the plate to mixed results.

I admit it's tempting. But let's make it punitive as well. Say it's the ninth, you're down one, your innocuous catcher is due up. You've got Edgar on the bench and Gagne in the pen - do you take a shot? I would. I like the idea of risk/reward, and if you disagree with me, you disagree - I promise I won't think your stupid
