Test Values for Cap
I was curious, or perhaps too bored, so I did some calculations in my league with PB values. The league is B8 and the PB values are the current value of the teams, not the top 27 players values(I'm not that bored). Here's what I came up with:
Average Team PB Value: 70.381
x 120% = 84.457
x 125% = 87.976
x 130% = 91.495
I have the 2nd highest PB value in the league -- 91.497(exactly .002 away from 130%)
I have two thoughts after looking at these numbers:
1. I would be against a cap of 120 or 125. I have been building this team for 4 years and I am finally in the top class of my league. After all the time and effort someone puts into rebuilding I don't think he should be punished for having a good team. Perhaps a cap is a good idea, but anything below 90 is too much in my opinion. Perhaps 130% would work, but please be realistic. THERE ARE GOING TO BE TEAMS THAT ARE BETTER. My favorite part of playing this game is building a team that will hopefully make a long run at many championships, and then probably rebuilding again. That's just the way it works. I DON'T WANT TO TURN INTO THE NFL.
2.If we do decide to implement a cap, we should not do it until NEXT year -- 2004, simply because it would be unfair to those high teams to do it this year. For instance, I've already made a couple trades in the last month that I probably would not have made had I known I would have to be under a cap.
Thanks for listening to my rant. Please let me know your opinions on these thoughts.
