Why Disccuss New Leagues?

Posted By Erle

Because contraction is a different issue.

If certain leagues are stagnant and need to be contracted, that's one thing. But I'm not involved in any of those leagues.

Someone mentioned that the CHAMP and CHALL leagues could use some freshening up, so I propose starting new ones using the same philosophy. It would be a nice reward for people who succesfully guide teams to championships, so how can that be a bad thing?

I can't be the only owner who isn't affected by contraction one way or another. It would be nice if something was done to show owners like me that PB is willing to grow and improve on our experience as well.

Maybe certain leagues have run their course. Maybe letting them die in favor of new, fresh leagues, where everyone has an equal chance of succeeding immediately is another way to go. Did anyone ask the owners in leagues that are being contracted if they'd all just prefer to start over? Even owners with dynasties can get tired of seeing the same roster year after year and might be interested in starting a new dynasty. At least let them have the option! As far as I can tell, no new leagues have started since the 2000 season.

As I said before, I'd be far more interested in starting a team from scratch than taking over an established franchise. Even if the team was already successful, most of the groundwork would have done by someone else, so where's the sense of accomplishment in guiding a team like that to victory?

New leagues are growth. Stagnancy leads to a slow death. Contraction is arguably a step backwards.
