Marrero played enough innings at C in 2002 to be a qualified backup.

However, I would hope the game would be modified to not allow players with very low usage at a position to play more than the number of innings they actually played at their "grade" for that position.

If a player only played 3 innings at catcher, he should ONLY get his catcher qualification for those 3 innings (or 25% more?) and then be treated as if he had not played the position.

This still gives him utility as an emergency backup, but doesn't allow for abuse.

I'd love to see this restriction implemented, but until it is I'll keep playing Glaus at SS.
