defense
Random comments on defense in the game:
The errors generated by some positions are off---particularly 1b---but the guys who make less errors will do better in this regard---and it involves few plays per season.
Catchers with strong stats throwing out runners will be tested by only the best base stealers and their numbers will suffer accordingly but they will allow less total steals. Pitchers who either did a good job holding runners or had a good catcher in real life will also hold down the running game in PB. I know I steal less and bunt or hit and run more if I am facing a pitcher/catcher combo that allows low success in the running game. You probably do too! In real life guys will continue to try stealing even if they have a poor percentage but in a SIM guys who got caught more than thye were safe rarely if ever run (except on broken hit and run plays).
The OFs (especially in RF as you woudl expect)with strong arms will hold down runners trying to score from second or go from first to third.
Range is incredibly important in this game but is fairly transparent. If you play a bad range player it is hard to guage by defensive stats provided (chances per game) what he is really doing.
Since I designed the game I have faith that a high range player will help you win! I have seen teams of mine improve their pitching numbers simply by scarificing some offense for defense at key positions.
A close study of your pithcers can help. If you have a FB pitching staff then the OF range will be more crucial---and so on.
The DP ratings at 2b and ss can and will effect your team ERA. The failure to turn DPS will kill you.
