Having joined a 20 team league for the first time, I'm surprised by the reduced value of "good" players because the demand is so much less. I think the 24 team leagues are much more realistic.
I would hope that recruitment of new owners could be possible.
If it is difficult to attract owners for perennial losing franchises, perhaps offering 2-3 free picks of top players to new owners of teams with losing records would help.
Allow managers to protect 5 key players (franchise players), everyone else is available for a new manager to take. The new manager can protect 20 guys on his roster and if he takes one of your players, you get 1 of his non-protected players in return.
No more than 1 player to be chosen off of any 1 team per new owner.
But...no contraction.
