While 98rt3 is in no danger of contraction, I still feel the need to weigh in here. Nobody seems to think that a 20 team league would be a more enjoyable game experience than a 24 team league, so it seems as though the reason it is being considered is that some have given up any hope of attracting new customers.

A minimum amount of advertising, say a monthly off-season ad in Baseball Weekly, would attract a small numbr of customers every year. Yet it seems like nothing such as this is being attempted.

Contraction injures a great product. It only fills up leagues in the short term. Sooner or later, some of the current players will also leave. What will we do then, drop to 16?
