Better Revenue

Posted By Garth

These ideas may or may not increase revenue in the short run. Some of the suggested discounts may come at the expense of current teams. But I would expect that overall they would generate marginally greater revenue in the short-run versus contraction. But in the longer-run (next year) they would a) make the leagues more active b) improve weak teams, and c) leave more teams available for future owners. RT managers want deep leagues; we like having to find and use marginal players. The uncertaintly in RT is a closer match to MLB and RT managers like that "baseballness". 20-team leagues are far less appealing.

The reason given earlier for not allowing temp owners (baby-sitters) is that the database was not set-up for it -- that the teams would not show up as available to new owners. But would that be more difficult to fix than contracting leagues?

Contraction will detract from the game -- and it's permanent. A short-term solution that leads to a better game is preferred.
