First, I don't know of a way to accomplish what you are looking to do. I'd send the player to the minors if he's injured for 3 or more games still.

Now if he's really good, you really want to use him, and his injury is 1 or 2 games, you can do this.

1) Send the injured player to the minors and bring up a scrub.

2) Set up a lineup, with the scrub in the position in the lineup that the inj. player would be at. Save the lineup.

3) Send scrub down, bring up injured player.

4) Don't send away instructions for the games that the inj. player is back. The program will try and use your default lineup, see that one position is missing, and insert the player that had been injured.
