20 vs. 24, RT vs Roto

Your point basically is that you don't like having "lousy" players in your league. Read Garth's post and maybe you'll understand why he, I and most RT owners think those "lousy" players are part of the fun.

You seem to be upset there was no quick fix in your first RT rookie draft. Well, there's no quick fix in real life either.

If your team was bad enough to deserve a top-5 pick there were plenty of quick fixes in my league: Hee Sop Choi, Baldelli, Day, Rodriguez, etc. But the Cubs had to spend years developing Choi before they got to enjoy their Rookie Of The Month.

You need to take the same long-term approach to really appreciate RT leagues. You won't get Mark Prior after he's had a year under his belt. But you might get him if you let him sit in your minors leagues for a while and give him spot starts until he's ready to dominate.

Re-building is a slow process that requires you to do your scouting. Maintaining any RT team is a lot of WORK, and that's a big reason why there are unmanaged teams. I could probably run three TRAD leagues in the time I spend on one RT team.

A lot of owners probably don't have the time, money or energy to spend a year in re-building mode. But if they did, they might enjoy an awesome young team the next year. And they'd be able to take great pride in the fact that they built it all themselves.

That being said, I do think PB should make it more enticing for people to pick up bad, unmanaged teams. Like I've said before, a rich oil baron wouldn't pay as much for the Detroit Tigers as he would for the Yankees. Unmanaged teams are a nuisance, but unmanageable teams are the real problem.
