"Well you can't compare today's attendance to years ago. You have so many more teams. of course those figures will be higher today"
I'm not talking totals, I'm talking per team. Take any season you want and you'll find that todays attendance is better than it was.
"In my opinion, not very good attendance figures for a weekend games."
We're not talking about individual games, we're talking about attendance on the whole.
Let's say the Brewers average 14000 a game, which is between the 13000 and 16000 quoted in this thread. That's 1.134 million fans. With school being out in June, special days and giveaway days that will surely boost it higher, call it 1.2 million fans. Now pick a season and compare attendance figures, I chose 1980. There were 8 teams below 1.2 and one exactly at it. So 9 of 26 teams drew what the worst team will draw this year. Saying that in your opinion certain attendance figures aren't very good without comparing them to anything is useless.
