2 Hats-the Rules are not the Same
Mike Bravard wears a different hat when he is trading on behalf of a managerless team, than when he is evaluating a trade between 2 third parties.
No one held a gun to the head of the person who donated Randa and Jimenez for Lofton. The rules for trading with a managerless team clearly imply that the commissioner is going to be an advocate for the that team. This is non dissimilar to MLB owning the Expos.
The reason for these trades are to make these teams saleable; to increase the long-term competitiveness of the league.
There is no hypocrisy when you are comparing apples and oranges.
