Unmanaged deals should get "committee" approval
I think some of the trades that have gone through have raised some eyebrows, and while I can live with Mike approving deals during the regular season, I think unmanaged team deals should be accepted by a 3-man team, or better still, assign a manager to the team who can deal and draft for that team. I worry Mike has too many deals to consider, and doesn't have the time to consider the overall picture of a team.
I was surprised that he allowed a Derek Lee for Jeff Kent deal to go through, for instance, where Lee went to the unmanaged team and Kent to a managed team. (RT1 99, Atlanta/Northern Ice). I know Mike values youth, but Kent is the better offensive player than Lee, at a much tougher position to get offense from, and also is a bigger name draw when it comes to recruiting a new owner.
We all have different opinions on deals, but any All-Star, MVP, possible Hall of Famer should be parted with only when presented with a killer package.
