Nice Toy -- As long as people understand its limitations

Posted By Tim A.

If you want to use the toy to track playing status and hot/cold streaks thats fine.

But you have to take some of the comments with a grain of salt because

(1) The comments are focused towards roto and Purebaseball is a sim. The fact that Mark Loretta moves from 1st to 7th in an order is very relevant in ROTO were runs are a category but its almost irrelevant in a sim where AVG, OBP, SLG are the most important offensive statistics.

(2) The "Outlook" given for some players is out of date (2002 comments). Also, even if the comments refer to 2003 they reflect the opinion of one web-site. It is important that people don't let the Rotowire Opinion of a player become the "gospel" regarding the players future value. There are plenty of other quality publications or sites that give equally valid opinions and they should be considered by the informed owner/GM.

[i.e. If Rotowire says some player stinks and Baseball Prospectus, Sporting News Scouting Notebook, and Rototimes all say something positive than I'm not taking Rotowire as the final word].
