Looks like Outlook is 2002, Projections are 2003

Posted By Tim A.

Based on the examples listed below I conclude that the OUTLOOK section is for 2002.

If I look at the projection section on Bellhorn and Trevor Hoffman it seems to me like the PROJECTIONS might be for 2003. I say that because I don't think anyone projecting for 2002 would have projected a line as good as they projected for Bellhorn or as poor as they projected for Hoffman. However, someone projecting this spring could have reasonably made those projections.

So I conclude the projections are for 2003. Whether they are worth the paper they are printed on is another question altogether.

D'Angelo Jimenez - CHI-A
POS: 2B
BATS: B THROWS: R
DOB: 12/21/1977
OUTLOOK: Starts the season as the Padres second baseman. The team hopes the move to an easier defensive position will help his offensive game, easing the pressure on him mentally. Another year removed from a near-fatal car crash, Jiminez will be expected to improve on his '01 totals and do so from the top of the order, batting either first or second.
CONTRACT INFO: Signed to a one-year contract in March, 2002

Byung-Hyun Kim - BOS
POS: P
BATS: R THROWS: R
DOB: 1/21/1979
OUTLOOK: Is Kim over the World Series nightmare? He better be, as the Diamondbacks don't have a lot of options entering the 2002 season. We still feel he'll be good for 25-30 saves.
CONTRACT INFO: Signed a one-year deal worth $3.5 million in January, 2003.

Mark Bellhorn - CHI-N
POS: 3B
BATS: B THROWS: R
DOB: 8/23/1974
OUTLOOK: Will battle for a utility role on the Cubs in 2002.
