PB Value Limits - Revisted
All Traditional and Real Time Leagues have now completed drafts and the Real Time season got under a couple weeks ago. Also draft pick trades will start in Traditional Leagues in a couple weeks from now. So it seems like now is a good time to revisit this subject.
After a lengthy discussion last winter Mike indicated that a new system would be put in place for a modified PB Value calculation and a modified PB Value limit that would affect Traditional Leagues starting with the draft cycle in the spring of 2004. Some guidelines were described which according to my memory are approximately as follows:
(1) A revised PB value calculation would be developed that would probably emphasize the best players on a team rather than the entire 35 man roster.
(2) The limit would change from a hard limit [120.0 for 20 team, 115.0 for 24 team] to a variable limit of a certain percentage (I think 120%) of the league average Team PB Value.
So far as I know this plan has been discussed and a conceptual description of the system has been publicised. However, to my knowledge the specific details have not been finalized and publicized.
Because draft pick trades are coming up soon I think it is important to formalize the new system (and update the manual) as soon as possible so that teams making draft pick trades can do so with a better understanding of how the new systems will impact their teams (and the rest of the league) when the spring 2004 cuts are made.
If plans to change the system have been revised that would likewise be good information to have.
Thanks in advance for help in this area.
