The Meknes team in D5 has needed more pitching depth all season. Greewich the unmanaged team it is making this offer to is not completly out of the race but probably should be looking to 2003 and beyond:

The Sultans are offering:
Vina---long in the tooth and injured part of 2003 but a good start at that position where Grenwich has no one in 2003

Fossum--young pitcher with big upside currently hurt and INN for his work in 2003. Had good numbers in 2002.

Rowand---good fielding CF who is currently INN for 2003 but fields well and has been hitting better of late. Posted good numbers versus LHP in 2002. Galnville currently only CF for Greenwich in 2003 and Rowand is an upgrade to Glanville.

Round 2 and 3 rookie picks. Late round picks by virtue of Meknes position in standings but should yield two young players Greenwich will be able to keep on 27 man roster in spring 2003.

FA pick #5

FOR:

Steve Reed---reliever with good 2002 numbers and good numbers only versus RHB in 2003---at this point a probable cut in 2003 but valuable to any contender in 2002.

Miguel Batista---good numbers versus RHB in both 2002 and 2003 but of more use as a reliever than a starter because of his problems with LHB. He is mostly used as a spot starter and long reliever by Arizona for this reason. Of more use to Meknes or a contender than to Greenwich---but still the best player in this trade for 2002 and 2003.

Ricky Gutierrez---lefty platoon 2b in 2002 and just coming off serious surgery in 2003. In the trade to make up Vina at bats at 2b for Meknes in 2002.

Ron Gant---platoon OF in 2002 and currently not on a MLB roster in 2003 after very slow start as PH for OAK.

#3 FA---two spots up in draft for Meknes. A good trade off for a building franchise in exchange for two rookie picks.


This is the first time we have done this so lets see how it goes. I tried to make a fair deal for some role players Meknes needs to fill holes in exchange fopr players who can help Greenwich overall future value.
